How to convert salary to an hourly rate
Divide your annual salary by the number of hours you work in a year. For full-time work that's usually 2,080 hours (40 × 52). So a $60,000 salary equals about $28.85 per hour.

Why it matters
Knowing your effective hourly rate helps you evaluate overtime, side gigs, and whether a salaried role truly pays more than an hourly one once you account for the real hours you work.
Watch out for long hours
Salaried employees often work more than 40 hours without extra pay. If you routinely work 50 hours a week, your real hourly rate is meaningfully lower than the 40-hour estimate.
