How to convert an hourly wage to a salary
The standard formula is: hourly wage × hours per week × weeks worked per year. A full-time schedule is typically 40 hours per week across 52 weeks (2,080 hours a year). Multiply your hourly rate by 2,080 for a quick full-time estimate.
Example
If you earn $25/hour and work 40 hours a week for all 52 weeks, your annual salary is $25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000 before taxes. That's roughly $2,000 per biweekly paycheck before deductions.
Common mistakes
Don't forget unpaid time off. If you take two weeks of unpaid leave, use 50 weeks instead of 52. Also remember this is gross pay — your take-home amount will be lower after federal tax, FICA, and state tax. Use our Biweekly Paycheck Calculator to see your net pay.
